CWS Bathroom Remodeling: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

We install and service CWS bathroom products across Fort Worth, and we understand the parts and hardware that go into them better than most. If you have a CWS tub, shower, or vanity that’s leaking, cracked, or just not working the way it used to, we match the right replacement part to your model and get it installed for a typical price of $9,000 to $28,000 depending on the scope of the work. Most Fort Worth homeowners discover they need us when water starts showing up where it shouldn’t: a drip that never quits, a crack in the shower base that widens by the week, or a vanity drawer that falls off its track every time a kid pulls it open. The part itself is usually small. The trick is knowing exactly which one your CWS unit needs.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

A wood double vanity with two mirrors after a bathroom remodel

CWS built several lines of bathroom products over the years, and the compatible hardware varies by series. The acrylic shower bases and surrounds from their mid-2000s to mid-2010s production runs are the ones we field the most calls about in Fort Worth. If your CWS unit has a serial number sticker inside the vanity cabinet door or on the underside of the shower base, that number tells us the series and the exact drain assembly, cartridge, or hinge hardware it shipped with. Older CWS vanities tend to use a standard 35mm cup hinge, which is easy enough to find, but the mounting plates were sometimes drilled to unusual depths, so a universal replacement hinge will sit proud or bind. That’s the kind of compatibility gotcha that turns a forty-dollar part into a weekend project if you don’t catch it before you buy.

On the shower side, CWS used both a 2-inch and a 1-1/2-inch drain opening depending on the series, and the difference matters when you’re ordering a replacement strainer or pop-up. We stock OEM CWS parts when they’re still available, and quality aftermarket equivalents from Moen and Kohler when they’re not. In our experience, the OEM cartridges on CWS shower valves fail faster than the aftermarket ceramic-disc versions, especially in Fort Worth’s hard water conditions. We’ll always tell you the honest trade-off before we install anything.

Signs Your CWS Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Water stains on the ceiling below the bathroom. This usually means the shower pan gasket has failed or the vinyl liner under the tile has a slow tear. We find hairline cracks around CWS shower drains more often in Fort Worth homes built before 2010, when the original pans were installed with less flexible sealant.
  • A shower valve that drips after you turn it off. Hard water mineral buildup wears down the rubber seats and O-rings inside the cartridge. Fort Worth’s water is hard enough that we typically see CWS cartridges start to weep after six to eight years, even with regular cleaning.
  • Vanity doors that won’t stay closed or hang crooked. The hinge screws have stripped out of the particleboard cabinet box. CWS used a denser particleboard than most, which is good, but once a screw hole strips, it needs a plate or a dowel repair, not just a longer screw.
  • A soft spot in the shower floor. Water has been getting under the CWS acrylic base long enough to rot the subfloor. This is the one that turns a parts swap into a full shower replacement, and it’s why we always recommend calling before the soft spot spreads past the drain.
  • Grout that keeps cracking in the same places. The CWS shower surround is moving. Acrylic surrounds flex slightly with temperature changes, and if the original installer didn’t leave an expansion gap, the grout will crack no matter how many times you re-grout over it.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled primary bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower

A full CWS bathroom remodel in Fort Worth runs $9,000 to $28,000 depending on what’s being replaced and how much tile, plumbing, or subfloor work is involved. A smaller job, like a shower valve replacement or a vanity swap, lands in the $800 to $3,000 range. Here’s how the bigger number breaks down:

  • Walk-in shower replacement with CWS-compatible acrylic or a tile surround: $4,500 – $12,000
  • Tub-to-shower conversion using a CWS or comparable base: $3,500 – $10,000
  • Full bathroom remodel including vanity, shower, flooring, and fixtures: $9,000 – $28,000

The price includes parts, labor, the Schluter waterproofing system where a tile install calls for it, and a written line-item quote before any work starts. You’ll see the cost of the CWS part itself listed separately from the labor. We also take a photo of the cleanup before we leave, every single time. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed work: if something isn’t right, we come back and make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

Some CWS parts are genuinely simple to check. If your vanity drawer is off its track, you can usually see whether the bracket is bent or just loose. If the shower drips, you can confirm which fixture is the culprit by turning off the supply valves and seeing if the drip stops. But anything involving the shower base, the drain assembly, or water lines is where we’d rather you call us. A poorly seated drain gasket leaks slowly into the subfloor, and by the time you see the stain on the ceiling, you’re looking at rot repair, not a parts swap. The same goes for removing a CWS acrylic shower base, which is not a high-tension part, but it is heavy, awkward, and easy to crack if it’s twisted the wrong way. We drop cloths the floors, wear shoe covers, and keep the noisy work outside school and nap hours whenever we can. Call (682) 708-9180 and Graham Stein will walk you through what he thinks you’re looking at, before anyone schedules anything.
