ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

We install and service ActiveYards driveway and paver systems throughout Fort Worth, with most driveway paver installations running $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base conditions, and the paver line you have. When a section of your ActiveYards driveway fails, it’s almost never the paver itself – it’s what’s underneath it. We keep replacement pavers and the base materials on hand for same-week scheduling, and we can match your existing ActiveYards color and pattern so the repair blends rather than patches.

Most Fort Worth homeowners discover a problem the way you probably did: after heavy rain, you notice a low spot holding water near the garage apron. Or a paver shifts underfoot near the sidewalk. Or the polymeric sand between pavers starts washing out after every storm. The paver didn’t fail. The base did. Here’s what that means and how we fix it.

Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

A dining nook with a built-in banquette

ActiveYards manufactures paver and driveway systems under several product lines, and the compatibility question matters more than most homeowners expect. We regularly work with the ActiveYards Classic and Estate paver series, both of which use a 60mm thick paver body – thicker than the 40mm pavers you’ll find at big-box stores, which is why ActiveYards driveways hold up better under Fort Worth’s clay soil shifts. The color codes are stamped on the underside of each paver, usually a two or three letter code like “CH” for Charcoal or “SD” for Sandstone. If you have a leftover paver from the original installation, keep it. Matching color from a photo is unreliable in direct sun.

One compatibility gotcha we see in Fort Worth regularly: ActiveYards changed their edge restraint system in 2019. If your driveway was installed before then, the old aluminum edging doesn’t accept the current spike design, so a repair that looks simple actually needs a short section of new edging to hold the repair properly. We stock both the current edge restraint and the legacy-compatible workaround, along with OEM ActiveYards pavers and a quality aftermarket equivalent for discontinued color runs. This is a part where buying the cheapest matching paver online usually ends with a color mismatch visible from the street. We’d rather order the right one and tell you the honest lead time.

Signs Your ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers Are Failing

  • Water pooling in one spot after rain. Pavers don’t fail first – the base does. A low spot means the compacted base has settled, usually where Fort Worth’s clay soil expanded and contracted through a wet spring and dry summer. Left alone, the pavers above will crack or shift.
  • Pavers rocking when you step on them. This means the bedding sand layer has migrated or washed out. One rocking paver is a quick fix. Ten rocking pavers in one area usually means the edge restraint has let go and we need to reset a section.
  • Sand washing out between joints after every rain. Polymeric sand should harden into a stable joint. When water keeps pulling it out, the sand has likely lost its binding or was never properly activated. Re-sanding without fixing drainage just repeats the cycle.
  • Visible gaps opening along the driveway edge. The edge restraint is the system that holds the whole field together. When it loosens, pavers start drifting outward and gaps widen. This is the most repairable early warning sign – and the one most often ignored.
  • Efflorescence or white haze that won’t clean off. A persistent white bloom can point to trapped moisture under the pavers, which usually means a drainage issue rather than a cleaning issue. Fix the drainage, and the haze stops returning.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

A full paver driveway installation in Fort Worth runs $7,000 – $18,000. A section repair – resetting a sunken area, replacing cracked pavers, re-edging a failed section – typically falls between $800 and $4,000 depending on how much base work the area needs. What drives the range is what’s under the pavers: if the original base was compacted correctly and only the surface shifted, the repair is faster. If we find the original contractor skimped on base depth, which we see often in older Fort Worth subdivisions like Wedgwood and Ridglea Hills, the fix means excavating to stable soil and rebuilding before a single paver goes back down.

Every repair starts with a written price before any work starts. That price includes removal of the failed section, base rebuild to current drainage standards, replacement pavers or matched equivalents, fresh bedding sand, polymeric joint sand, and clean-up. We tell you if the cost changes before it changes. And per Graham Stein’s standing rule on how Elmstead Remodeling Fort Worth prices work: “The written price and the final invoice should read the same – if they don’t, that’s on us to explain before we hand you a pen.” The work itself carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise – if the repair fails within a year, we make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things before calling. Walk the driveway after a rain and mark the low spots with chalk. Push gently on suspicious pavers to find the rockers. Note whether the edge restraint is pulling away anywhere. Photograph everything in morning light before the sun gets high enough to wash out the color variations. What you should not try to DIY is the base repair. The dangerous part isn’t the paver itself – it’s the temptation to “just add some sand under the low spot.” That masks the symptom for a season and makes the eventual proper repair more expensive. And re-compacting a base without the right plate compactor and drainage grade means doing the work twice.

If the paver is cracked in a high-traffic area near where your kids ride bikes or where your dog takes off running after a squirrel, call us at (682) 708-9180. We’ll schedule a look, give you a written price, and tell you what we found before anything gets disturbed.
