Cambridge Pavers Bathroom Remodeling: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
Cambridge Pavers bathroom remodeling in Fort Worth typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 fully installed, depending on whether we’re replacing a shower pan, retiling a surround, or rebuilding the entire wet area. Most homeowners discover the failure the same way: a soft spot underfoot, grout that keeps cracking along the same line, or water staining the ceiling of the room below. Graham Stein has been writing scopes of work for these exact repairs across North Texas for years, and the first question he asks is always the same: where is the water actually going?
Elmstead Remodeling Fort Worth is an independent remodeling contractor, not affiliated with Cambridge Pavers. We work with Cambridge Pavers products because of their dimensional consistency and the depth of their paver lines, but the warranty on the original product travels with the manufacturer, not with us. Our warranty travels with our work.
Which Cambridge Pavers Models This Applies To

Cambridge Pavers manufactures paving stones primarily for exterior use, but their thinner-profile lines, specifically the 2 3/8″ ArmorTec series and select 60mm sheets, show up in Fort Worth bathroom remodels as accent walls, shower floors, and curb caps. The compatibility gotcha here is thickness: a shower pan built for 60mm pavers will not accept a 2 3/8″ replacement without re-sloping the mortar bed, and re-sloping means re-waterproofing. If the original installer set 60mm pavers on a pre-sloped Schluter or Laticrete pan, the pan usually can be saved. If they were set on a dry-pack mortar bed, we’re rebuilding the bed.
To identify what you have, measure the edge of a loose paver or pull a drain grate and check the cross-section. Cambridge Pavers stamps most production runs on the underside with a plant code and date, usually three or four characters pressed into the concrete. Take a photo of that stamp before you call anyone. It saves a wasted trip and gives Graham something concrete to work from when he writes the scope.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for Cambridge Pavers specifically, we recommend staying with genuine Cambridge Pavers pieces for any visible surface. Their color blends are proprietary and batch-matched, and an aftermarket “close enough” paver will catch the light differently after the sealer goes on. For what’s underneath, the Schluter, the Laticrete, the drain assembly, we use brands whose warranties we can call on by name.

Signs Your Cambridge Pavers Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Grout keeps cracking along the same horizontal line. This almost always means the substrate is flexing. Pavers don’t flex. The mortar bed under them does. In Fort Worth, our clay soil shifts seasonally, and that movement telegraphs up through the slab and into the shower floor.
- A soft or hollow spot under one specific paver. That’s a void in the mortar bed or a failed bond. Water has been sitting there. Pavers spall from the inside out when moisture freezes inside the concrete, which happens in North Texas more than people expect.
- Water staining on the ceiling below the bathroom. This is the one we treat as urgent. By the time it shows on drywall, the leak has been active for weeks. The paver surface can look perfectly fine while the waterproofing beneath has failed.
- Efflorescence that returns within days of cleaning. White powdery mineral deposits mean water is migrating through the paver and evaporating on the surface. That water is coming from somewhere it shouldn’t be.
- A sewer smell that comes and goes. Pavers over a failed drain assembly let water pool around the clamping ring. That trapped water goes septic. It’s a waterproofing failure, not a plumbing backup.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fort Worth, a Cambridge Pavers shower floor replacement typically lands between $4,500 and $12,000 when the waterproofing layer is intact and we’re only resetting the pavers, re-grouting, and resealing. A full shower rebuild with new waterproofing, drain assembly, and Cambridge Pavers surround runs $9,000 to $28,000. The spread comes down to three things: how much of the existing waterproofing is salvageable, whether the subfloor needs leveling after we expose it, and the paver style you’re matching.
Every project with us includes a written price before any work starts. Not an estimate. A price. We also include shoe covers and drop cloths on every visit, a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves, and quiet tools during nap and school hours when the family is still living in the house. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed project: if it’s not done right, we make it right. Graham’s rule on pricing: the written price and the final invoice should read the same. If they don’t, that’s on us to explain before we hand you a pen.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do the diagnostic work yourself: photograph the paver stamp, measure the paver thickness, note where the grout is cracking, and check the ceiling below for staining. What you should not do is pull up a paver to see what’s underneath. Cambridge Pavers set in a shower are part of a waterproofing assembly, and breaking that assembly in one spot without understanding how it was built can turn a $4,500 reset into a $15,000 rebuild. Gloves and a putty knife won’t tell you if the pan is bonded or floated, and if it’s floated, you’ve just compromised the slope.
If you’re seeing any of the failure signs above, call (682) 708-9180. We’ll talk through what you’re seeing, and if it makes sense, we’ll send someone out to look. The walkthrough is free. The advice is free. The written price comes before any tool gets unloaded.
FAQs

Concrete pavers themselves can last 25 to 40 years, but the waterproofing under them typically fails first, often in 10 to 15 years in Fort Worth’s freeze-thaw cycles and shifting clay soil. The paver is rarely the problem; what’s under it is. Call (682) 708-9180 and we’ll help you figure out which one has failed.
Sometimes, if the failure is caught before the waterproofing is compromised. A cracked paver, a failed section of grout, or a corroded drain grate can often be repaired without a full replacement. Once water has gotten below the waterproofing layer, repair usually stops being responsible. We’ll tell you which one you have, and why.
A paver floor replacement typically takes 3 to 5 working days including cure time. A full shower rebuild runs 1 to 2 weeks. We schedule noisy demolition outside school-pickup hours when families are still living in the house, and we’ll give you the schedule in writing before we start.
We don’t stock Cambridge Pavers on the truck for bathroom applications because the color, thickness, and batch match matter too much to guess. We order the exact paver after we identify what was originally installed, usually the same day we confirm the stamp code. The parts we do stock on the truck: Schluter and Laticrete waterproofing materials, drain assemblies, grout, and sealers. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone projects when the job calls for them.
