Abodu Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
Replacing driveway pavers around an Abodu home in Fort Worth typically runs $3,500 to $11,000 installed, depending on how many square feet need re-laying and whether the base has shifted. We stock Abodu-compatible paver profiles on the truck and can usually assess the job within a day or two of your call. Most owners notice the problem the way you probably did: a low spot that collects water after rain, a paver rocking underfoot, or a section that sunk half an inch after last spring’s heavy clay swell.
Fort Worth’s gumbo clay expands and contracts through every wet-dry cycle, and that movement is what eventually compromises even a well-laid paver driveway. We see more paver failures in late spring here than any other season, right after the ground finally dries out and settles unevenly.
Which Abodu Models This Applies To

Abodu homes in Texas sit on compacted gravel or pier foundations, and the driveway pavers are typically a permeable interlocking concrete paver system paired with a sand-set base, not mortared. The paver dimensions vary by when the home was delivered. Older Abodu deliveries from the company’s first Texas phases often used a 60mm paver in a 4-by-8-inch format. Newer units arriving in the last few years have trended toward 80mm pavers, which handle Fort Worth’s clay movement better from day one.
The quickest way to identify what you have: lift one edge paver with a flat pry bar and measure the thickness. If it reads 2-3/8 inches (60mm), you’re looking at the older spec. If it’s 3-1/8 inches (80mm), it’s the current standard. This matters because mixing the two thicknesses in a repair patch will telegraph through as a visible ridge within a year. We keep both profiles in our Fort Worth shop, plus the matching edge restraints and the angular bedding sand the manufacturer specifies, so we don’t have to substitute whatever a box store has on the shelf.
Abodu doesn’t sell replacement pavers directly to homeowners in Texas, so you’re choosing between us pulling the right profile from local hardscape supply houses who stock Abodu-spec material, or a generic big-box paver that won’t match color or thickness. We carry OEM-spec equivalents from the same regional suppliers Abodu’s installers use here. Elmstead Remodeling Fort Worth is not affiliated with Abodu; we’re an independent contractor who has serviced enough of these driveways to keep the right materials on hand. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products when we’re working inside the house.

Signs Your Abodu Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Water pooling in the middle of the driveway. This means the permeable base has clogged with silt or the sand-setting bed has washed out under the pavers. Left alone, the water softens the clay underneath and accelerates sinking.
- A paver that rocks or wobbles when you step on it. The bedding sand has migrated out from under that paver, usually at an edge or along a control joint. One rocking paver spreads pressure to its neighbors and starts cracking them within a season.
- Sections that sit visibly lower than the garage slab. Fort Worth’s clay heave lifts and drops the ground unevenly. A one-inch drop at the garage apron means the sub-base lost compaction and needs re-leveling, not just a paver reset.
- Cracks running through multiple pavers in a straight line. This usually points to a failed edge restraint. Once the perimeter lets go, the whole field starts creeping outward and cracking under tire load.
- Sand washing out onto the sidewalk after every rain. The joint sand is escaping because the pavers aren’t locked together anymore. You’ll feel them shift slightly underfoot before visible sinking starts.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Fort Worth homes, a paver driveway repair or replacement runs $3,500 to $11,000 installed, depending on square footage, paver thickness, and how much of the base needs to be re-excavated and compacted. A small section of 200 square feet with an intact base might land near $3,500. A full driveway re-lay at 600-plus square feet with new gravel base and edge restraints lands closer to $8,000 to $11,000.
Every quote includes the pavers, bedding sand, joint sand, any needed base rock, removal and haul-off of the failed section, and re-compaction. It also includes our written price before work starts, shoe covers and drop cloths when we pass through the house, a photo of the clean-up before we leave, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise on the finished work. The written price and the final invoice should read the same – if they don’t, that’s on us to explain before we hand you a pen.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the thickness of your pavers with a pry bar and a tape measure, and you can take a photo of the pooling or sinking before calling us. What we don’t recommend is pulling up more than a single test paver yourself. Once you lift a section, the edge restraint tension changes, and walking or driving on the loosened field can crack neighboring pavers and turn a $3,500 repair into an $11,000 replacement. The base re-compaction also needs a plate compactor and an experienced eye for Fort Worth’s clay behavior, not a hand tamper and hope.
If you’ve already got pavers shifting or water pooling, call (682) 708-9180. We’ll come measure, tell you what’s actually failing underneath, and write the price down before any work starts.
FAQs

How long should an Abodu paver driveway last in Fort Worth? A properly installed Abodu paver driveway with an 80mm paver and compacted base typically lasts 15 to 25 years in Fort Worth’s clay soil before needing a full re-level, though individual sections may need resetting after 8 to 12 years depending on drainage and tree root pressure.
Can a sunken section be repaired instead of replacing the whole driveway? Yes, we can often lift the sunken pavers, re-compact or add to the base, and re-lay the same pavers if they aren’t cracked, which costs less than a full replacement. The catch is that batch-lot color variation means a full-field repair with new pavers will show seams, so we’ll tell you honestly which approach makes sense for your specific driveway before you decide. Call (682) 708-9180 and we’ll look at it in person.
How long does a paver driveway repair take? A section repair of 200 to 300 square feet usually takes one to two days from base prep through final compaction and joint sand, while a full driveway re-lay runs three to five days depending on whether we hit clay that needs deeper excavation. We schedule the noisy base work around school-pickup hours when families are home.
Do you stock Abodu-compatible pavers in Fort Worth? We keep both 60mm and 80mm Abodu-spec interlocking pavers, matching edge restraints, and angular bedding sand at our Fort Worth shop, so we don’t have to order in and wait when a repair can’t wait. If your specific color lot has been discontinued, we’ll show you the closest match and get your sign-off before installation.
