Atlas Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Atlas-compatible driveway and paver replacement parts across Fort Worth, with most paver driveway repairs running between $350 and $1,800 installed depending on how many units failed and whether the base layer needs attention. If you’ve noticed a sunken section near the garage apron, a cracked paver along the main walk, or a shifting edge where the driveway meets the lawn, that’s the typical first sign something underneath has stopped doing its job. We can match your existing Atlas pavers by size, color family, and wear pattern, and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts.
Elmstead Remodeling Fort Worth is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Atlas, but we’ve worked with their paver and driveway product lines long enough to know what holds up in North Texas clay soil and what doesn’t.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas pavers and driveway systems come in a few distinct product families, and matching the replacement to the right one matters more than people expect. The most common in Fort Worth are the Atlas Permeable Paver line (wider joints, designed for drainage), the Atlas Classic Driveway Paver (tighter joints, typically 60mm thickness for vehicular use), and the Atlas Precast Slab system used for walkways and lighter traffic areas. Each has different joint spacing, base depth requirements, and load ratings.
The quickest way to identify what you have is to pull one loose paver and measure its thickness. Driveway-rated Atlas pavers run 60mm to 80mm thick. Paver patio and walkway units are usually 40mm to 50mm. That 20mm difference determines whether the paver can carry a truck or just foot traffic, and using the wrong one under a driveway is a failure waiting for the next rainy season. If you’re replacing a paver that cracked under vehicle load, we’ll check the thickness before we quote a replacement, because sometimes the original install used the thinner profile and the whole section needs upgrading, not just swapping.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: for Atlas specifically, we’ve had good results with quality aftermarket pavers that match the color and size within a few millimeters, but color-matching a paver that’s been in Texas sun for five years is harder than matching one from a fresh pallet. A new paver next to a sun-faded original will always read slightly different until it weathers in. We’ll show you the match before we install it and let you decide.

Signs Your Atlas Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- One paver sinks below the rest near a downspout or lawn edge. This usually means the base material under that section has washed out. Fort Worth’s clay-heavy soil expands when wet and shrinks when dry, and that movement eventually shifts the sand and crushed stone base. Replacing just the paver won’t fix it; the base underneath needs recompacting first.
- A paver cracks along a clean, straight line. That’s a load fracture, not a weather crack. It typically happens when a car tire repeatedly rolls over a paver that was never thick enough for driveway use. We see this most often on the section right in front of a garage door.
- Weeds or ants are pushing up through the joints. The joint sand has broken down or was never installed at full depth. Once insects start tunneling, they move that sand out and the pavers lose their interlock. This is an early warning sign that a larger reset will be needed if left alone too long.
- Edges along the driveway are spreading outward. The paver restraint system, which is either a plastic or concrete edge running along the perimeter, has failed or was never installed. Without it, the whole field of pavers slowly drifts under traffic. This is one of the most common issues we repair in older Fort Worth neighborhoods like Wedgwood and Ridglea Hills.
- Water puddles in low spots that didn’t used to hold water. The surface has moved enough to change the drainage slope. Paver driveways should pitch away from the house at about 1 to 2 percent. If that slope flattens out, water sits, the base erodes, and the whole cycle accelerates.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we tell Fort Worth homeowners to expect when they call us about an Atlas driveway or paver repair. These are installed prices, including the parts, labor, base work if needed, and haul-away of any broken material.
- Single pavers replaced (2-10 units): $350 – $800, depending on whether we’re just swapping pavers or also pulling and resetting the base underneath.
- Section repair (a sunken area, a spreading edge, or a cracked run of 10-40 pavers): $700 – $1,800, including recompacting the base, adding joint sand, and resetting the edge restraint.
- Full paver driveway installation (Fort Worth market): $7,000 – $18,000, sized and priced per square foot, with written line-item detail before any deposit changes hands.
The range comes down to two things: how much base reconstruction is required, and how many pavers need to come out before we can fix what’s underneath. We include drop cloths and shoe covers on every visit, even for outdoor work near the house, and we photograph the clean-up before we leave. Every repair is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right after the job is complete, we make it right.
The written price and the final invoice should read the same, if they don’t, that’s on us to explain before we hand you a pen. That’s a rule Graham Stein has kept since he started building in Fort Worth.
DIY or Call Us?
Some things an owner can safely check without calling anyone. Grab a level and hold it across three pavers at a time near the sunken area or the spreading edge. Check that downspouts are discharging at least three feet from the driveway edge. Sweep joint sand into any gaps you see opening up. Those observations will help us quote accurately over the phone.
Where we’d ask you to stop is at the point of pulling multiple pavers to rebuild a base on a sloped driveway. Lifting a 60mm paver out is one thing. Digging out a failed base, recompacting it in lifts, and resetting a field of pavers so the surface drains correctly is a different job, and a wheelbarrow full of wet clay in a Fort Worth August is not a light afternoon project. If you’ve got a spreading edge or a growing sinkhole, call us at (682) 708-9180 before you pick up a shovel. The estimate is free, and we’ll put the scope in writing before anything starts.
FAQs

With a well-built base and proper edge restraint, Atlas driveway pavers in Fort Worth typically last 25 to 40 years before the units themselves need replacement. The base underneath usually needs attention long before then, especially on driveways built over native clay without a deep enough crushed stone layer. We see the first base issues between year 8 and year 15, which is why most of our Fort Worth work is repair and reset rather than full replacement. Call (682) 708-9180 and we’ll tell you whether your pavers are still good or past their useful life.
A cracked paver almost always needs replacing. Paver material is not like concrete slab; you can’t fill the crack in a way that will hold up under repeated vehicle loads without the crack telegraphing through again. The good news is a matching replacement is usually straightforward once we measure the thickness and match the color. Call (682) 708-9180 with a photo of the cracked paver and a measurement of its thickness, and we’ll quote the swap.
Most single-paver replacements and small section repairs take half a day to one full day in Fort Worth, depending on how much base work is involved. Jobs that require us to strip and reset a large section, recompact the base, and install a new edge restraint can run two to three days. We’ll schedule noisy work outside school-pickup hours if your family is home, and we’ll give you a written timeline before we start.
We stock common Atlas-compatible pavers on the truck, including most 60mm driveway units and a range of standard color blends. Unusual sizes or specialty colors may need a supply-house order, which in Fort Worth typically takes three to five business days. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone projects for our remodeling clients. Call (682) 708-9180 and we’ll check the truck before you make the trip anywhere else.
