Cover Fence Installation: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
If a Cover fence system on your Fort Worth property has a failed post, rail, or panel and you need it replaced, we stock Cover-compatible fence installation parts and typically install them for $3,500 – $9,000 depending on the fence length, existing layout, and site conditions. Most single-run replacements are done in one or two days, and we give you a written line-item price before any work starts. The way most Fort Worth homeowners discover the problem: a panel sags after a wind storm, a gate drags on the concrete after a hot summer, or a post has worked loose in clay soil after heavy rain. You walk out one morning, see the lean, and suddenly need a fence part matched to the rest of the line.
Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover fence systems are built around a modular post-and-panel design, which means the part you need depends on two things: the post profile and the panel height. Cover posts are usually sold in 2-inch, 2.5-inch, and 3-inch square profiles, with panels in 4-foot, 5-foot, and 6-foot heights. The post size is stamped on the inside of the post cap or on the base plate under the first panel. If you can’t find a stamp, measure the post width with a tape measure before you call. That one measurement tells us whether we’re matching a Cover 2.5-inch post or a different series entirely.
One compatibility gotcha that trips up Fort Worth owners: Cover’s older fence lines used a narrower panel channel than the current series. A panel from a 2015 Cover line will not seat cleanly into a 2023 Cover post, even if both are labeled the same height. We keep a measurement log on the truck for this exact reason. When the OEM part is no longer in production, we recommend a quality aftermarket equivalent that matches the channel width and powder-coat finish. For most Cover fences in Fort Worth, OEM and aftermarket posts both hold up, but the aftermarket route usually shaves 15 – 20% off the material cost and gets the fence standing a week sooner. We’ll tell you which way we’d go before you commit to anything.

Signs Your Cover Fence Installation Is Failing
- A post leaning more than a few degrees. This usually means the post base has rusted through below the soil line, or the concrete footing has cracked from Fort Worth’s expansive clay soil. A leaning post will eventually pull the panel channel out of square and stress the neighboring posts.
- A panel that rattles or shifts in the wind. The panel channel gaskets on Cover fences harden over time in Texas sun. Once the gasket loses its grip, the panel slides within the post channel and the whole fence starts to sound loose.
- A gate that scrapes or won’t latch. This is most often a hinge post that has drifted out of plumb, not a gate issue. Fort Worth’s freeze-thaw cycles during winter push shallow footings up and down just enough to misalign the latch plate.
- Visible rust bleeding from the bottom of a post. Cover posts are powder-coated, but the coating can get scratched during installation. Water sits in the scratch, rust forms, and in three to five years the post gets weak at the exact point it enters the concrete.
- Panels bowing outward between posts. This almost always traces back to incorrect post spacing at original installation. Cover panels are engineered for specific post centers, and when a previous installer stretched the spacing, the panel carries a load it was never designed to hold.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Cover fence installation in Fort Worth runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a typical residential run. The price moves with the length of the fence, the number of posts being pulled and re-set, whether the existing concrete footings can be reused, and the panel height you’re matching. A short 40-foot side yard replacement lands at the lower end; a full 120-foot perimeter with two gates and clay-soil excavation lands at the top.
Every quote includes the Cover-compatible posts, panels, channel gaskets, post caps, and concrete for new footings. Line items are separate, so you’ll see exactly what the materials cost and what the labor costs. If we pull a post and find the footing is still solid, you don’t pay for a new footing. We honor the written price unless the scope changes and we agree on the change in writing first. All of our Cover fence work is backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fence isn’t installed right, we come back and make it right at no additional cost.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: measure the post width, note whether the panel channel is cracked, and take photos of the failing area from three angles. Those details help us match the right part before we drive out.
What we don’t recommend doing yourself is pulling a post that’s set in concrete. The post is under lateral load from the neighboring panels, and once you remove the panel channel screws, that load can release suddenly. A post can shift sideways as it comes out of the footing, and a 6-foot panel is heavy enough to injure someone if it falls. There’s also the question of the footing itself: in Fort Worth clay, a footing that looks whole from the surface is often cracked below grade, and reusing it is how you get a repeat failure in two years. This is the kind of repair where the diagnosis matters as much as the replacement. If you’re in Fort Worth and the fence is leaning or a post has failed, call us at (682) 708-9180. We’ll look at the whole run, tell you honestly what needs replacing and what doesn’t, and hand you a written price before we touch a single post.
FAQs

A properly installed Cover fence in Fort Worth typically lasts 15 – 20 years, with powder-coated posts holding up better than uncoated steel in our humidity and clay soil. The panels often outlast the post footings, which is why we inspect the concrete when replacing any post.
Sometimes, yes. If the post itself is straight and the issue is a cracked footing, we can re-set the post in a new concrete footing and reuse the existing panel. If the post has rusted through at the base, replacement is the only option that stays standing.
Most Cover fence replacements in Fort Worth are completed in one or two days. If we’re pulling and re-setting multiple posts with new concrete, we may need a second day to let the footings cure before re-hanging the panels.
Our Fort Worth trucks carry the most common Cover post profiles, panel channel gaskets, and post caps, which means many replacements can be completed in one trip. For less common panel heights, we order the part from our supplier and usually have it on site within a few business days. Call (682) 708-9180 and we’ll tell you whether your specific part is one we’d need to order.
